Bilingual International Section (SIB) of the Department of Engineering Science & Technology (STPI)

The SIB was set up in 1999 with the dual mission :

To provide international students with a specially-tailored environment to ensure their success at INSA

To prepare French and international students for their future careers in a global environment by gaining understanding of different cultures.

The SIB recruits about 100 students annually, with equal numbers of French and international students.

The programme runs parallel to the classic French language section of the STPI and the course content is the same.

·       It begins with a mandatory 3-week pre-session summer school offering intensive French language and science methodology courses

·       The first three semesters of common core curriculum are taught 50% in French/50% in English

·       In addition to training in professional communication skills in English, French language (FLE or "français langue étrangère") courses are provided as a second foreign language

·       The teaching is mainly done in small groups of around 25 students

After successfully completing the first three semesters of SIB, the students join those from the classic section for their choice of semester 4 electives according to the specialization they wish to take for the following 3 years of study for the INSA Engineering degree (M.Sc./M.Eng).
