Assessment / Juries

Student assessment

Each responsible teacher sets the methods and dates of assessments in agreement with the STPI department director and informs students on this at the beginning of the semester.

There may be specific types of assessment for each course unit :

  • supervised oral tests in mid-semester and summary works in the last week of each semester ;
  • written or oral tests during TD sessions ;

The juries

The juries in charge of the first and second years are composed of members responsible for course units(or half course units) and are presided over by the STPI department director. Its members are appointed by the INSA director on the proposal of the STPI director for a school year.

The jury members may meet as many times as needed. On the basis of the responsible teachers' proposals , they give each student a certain marks for each course unit , which enables them to grade year students in order of merit.

At the end of each semester , school results are sent to each student (or to his/her parents if he/she is under 18). Assessments aim at enabling students to assess their competences ,the knowledge they have acquired and to point out possible weaknesses. The principle of moving up to the next class is to hold 60  STPI credits  at the end of the first year and 120 STPI credits at the end of the second year.
