Winter school is :

  • for international students recruited in August

  • for 7 weeks before entering directly the Bilingual International Section (SIB) in February for semester 2

It is also possible for international students to apply to INSA after sitting their university entrance examinations in July.

A recruitment panel is organized directly in the country of origin. So far this possibility is only open to students from China but the possibility is expected to be extended to Vietnam and other countries. Admission is granted on the basis of academic record in science and English. The student spends the first semester (4 months) in his own country, studying French intensively and continuing science subjects.

Studies in the Bilingual International Section of the STPI department at INSA Rouen correspond to the three remaining semesters of the two-year first cycle of the 5-year INSA engineering degree programme.

Prior to semester 2, during 7 weeks, students attend Winter School, which is designed to enable them to settle down easily and quickly in their new environment. The programme consists of intensive courses revising, in French, subjects covered in the first semester syllabus, as well as an introduction to French culture through excursions and visits.

Winter school is mandatory for students recruited in August as it ensures their best chance of success in their studies in France.
